Early Saturday morning, April 20, 2024, brazen thieves ripped open an ATM machine stealing thousands of dollars for the Exchange Bank of Memphis at approximately 4:30 a.m.
According to Memphis Police Captain Bill Holland, the thieves used a stolen Ford F250 pickup truck taken hours earlier from Albia, IA, and a log chain to gain access to the money compartment of the ATM machine.
The thieves quickly left the scene just one minute after triggering the bank alarm system.
A similar burglary recently occurred in Palmyra, and several ATM burglaries have been reported elsewhere in Missouri.
According to Holland, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation. And, several local businesses have helped by offering their surveillance video from around Memphis to investigators.
Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to call the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office at (660) 465-2106.
