Memphis Community Players To Present “Drinking Habits”

The Memphis Community Players’ production of “Drinking Habits” will be held August 6, 7, and 8, 2026, at 7:30 at the Memphis Theatre.

The comedy “Drinking Habits” begins with Sisters Philamena (Amy Gaudette) and Augusta (Angie Tipling), from the nearly “insignificant” convent of The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing, as they are sewing garments. The sisters become frantic when they hear a frost is expected, threatening the convent’s treasured juice grapes. Only the two nuns know that the grapes they harvest are used not only to make grape juice, but to make wine — something forbidden by Mother Superior (Chrissy Myers).

Other cast members include Reporters Mason Trimby and Ciara Smith, Groundskeeper Uriah Ogle, Sister Mary Catherine portrayed by Amber Brown, and John Myers as Father Chenille. These characters will entertain with the funny story and continual plot twists.

Brooke Wineinger and Lynnette Dyer are directing the play, and Sheila Berkowitz is the production manager. The performance of “Drinking Habits” by Tom Smith is presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals New York, NY.

Tickets for the performance are $10.00. Theatre Box Office hours will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily July 29, 30, 31, and August 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Patrons may call 660 465- 2277 for reservations as well.
