Draft STIP Lists $3.1 Million In Scotland County Road, Bridge Work

Scotland County would see just over $3 million in highway and bridge construction work under MoDOT’s draft 2027-2031 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.

The draft STIP, which covers fiscal years 2027 through 2031, is available for public review and comment through June 5. Comments may be submitted to MoDOT by calling 1-888-ASK-MODOT or emailing STIPcomments@ modot.mo.gov. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is expected to consider the final program July 1.

The largest Scotland County project listed in the construction schedule is a $2.207 million U.S. 136 bridge improvement over Gunns Branch, 0.7 mile east of Route MM near Memphis. The project involves bridge K0284 and is scheduled for a 2028 award.

Two other Scotland County projects are scheduled for January 2027 and are listed to be let together.

One calls for pavement resurfacing on Business 136 from Monroe Street to U.S. 136 in Memphis. The project, listed as NE0258, covers 0.46 mile and has an estimated total cost of $120,000.

The other calls for pavement resurfacing on Route MM from U.S. 136 in Memphis to Route M. The project, listed as NE0098, covers 5.24 miles and has an estimated total cost of $735,000.

The three Scotland County construction projects total approximately $3.062 million.

The draft STIP’s scoping and design section identifies potential future projects that are being evaluated or are in preliminary design. MoDOT notes those projects are not commitments to construct or implement improvements; only projects listed in the construction section represent a commitment to build.
