Memphis Community Health Center Donates AED to City Ballfields

MEMPHIS, Mo. — A new automated external defibrillator, or AED, has been donated to the city ballfields through a partnership between the Memphis Community Health Center and local officials, enhancing safety for athletes and visitors.

The lifesaving device was presented by Dr. Shane Wilson and staff from the health center. The addition of the AED is intended to provide rapid response capabilities in the event of a cardiac emergency during games and community events.

Those present for the presentation included volunteer coaches Craig and Kaitlyn Wittstock; Memphis Community Health Center employees Lexey Watts, medical assistant; Kelsey Justice, clinic manager; and Megan Johnston, receptionist. City Administrator Regina Long and Parks and Pool Department head Cecily Williams also attended.

The AED is a valuable resource at the ballfields, where large crowds often gather throughout the season. The device is designed to assist in restoring a normal heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest, improving the chances of survival when used quickly.
