RUTLEDGE, Mo. — The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Thursday, March 6, 2025, that a man was living in a tent near the Rutledge Cemetery. When deputies attempted to make contact, the man was not found in the area.
On Friday, March 7, the man was reported to be in a wooded area about one mile east of Rutledge. A trail camera set up in the area captured an image of him.
On Saturday, March 8, authorities identified the man in the trail camera photo as Shane Russell Loomis, 47, of Moberly. The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office arrested Loomis in Rutledge on an active warrant from Knox County.
Loomis was taken into custody without incident by a Scotland County deputy on a warrant stemming from an assault charge in Knox County. He was turned over to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office on a $1,000 cash-only bond.
Shane Loomis is presumed innocent unless he is proven guilty in court.
