Sunday afternoon, Dec. 15, Scotland County Sheriff Bryan Whitney was notified by a local property owner that a burglary was in progress at 24091 State Route U in Gorin.
The property owner was able to relay live updates of the break-in directly to the Sheriff while Chief Deputy Bill Holland responded to the location.
Security cameras relayed images of the male intruder inside of the home, which were quickly reported to Holland before Holland arrived at the scene of the burglary.
Just 15 minutes after contact, Holland arrived at the residence finding the alleged burglar still in the residence.
Scott M. Ebiling, 49, of Memphis was arrested at the residence and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Scotland County Jail. According to Sheriff Whitney, formal charges are pending.
“I want to stress the importance of having home security cameras as everyone’s main residence, hunting cabins, and rural properties in the county. With this camera system, an arrest was made approximately 15 minutes after it was committed.”
