Letter to the Editor of the Memphis Democrat
August 17, 2015
Thank you to Alisa Kiger for her Thursday, August 14, 2025, article: “Becker’s Honors 209+ Women Presidents and CEOs of Hospitals and Health System.” Now the public knows from where Meagan Weber received her Masters of Business Administration (MBA): Western Governors (University).
Since first viewing an Echo Menges YouTube, “Scotland County Hospital District Board of Directors Public Meeting on 9-27-22 Part 1 of 2,” hearing Joe Doubet say at about the 20:00 minute mark: “Megan I know your parents have been waiting for the day you become CEO. Many people in this community have been waiting for you to become CEO. And I have even been trying to support you as the new CEO. The hospital had such faith in your potential that it paid for your education to receive your MBA to equip you to step into this position.”
I often asked myself and others where Weber learned her employment law and contract law for MBAs. Until now no one told me.
As a longtime reader of Beckers Health Review, I looked up the published list and found it in the June 16, 2025, article by Anna Falvey and Allie Woldenberg. Anyone can go to the official article because Becker’s Hospital Review is free online.
One part of the article was omitted from the Kigar article and I think it is important: “Note: This list was compiled based on nominations and editorial research. This list is not exhaustive, nor is it an endorsement of included presidents, CEO, hospitals, health systems or associated healthcare providers. Leaders cannot pay for inclusion on this list…”
Several lists are open for nominations, among them the “BHR List 2025: Highly Successful CEO-CFO Duos,” open until Oct. 31, 2025.
The only recognition to be given is that somebody nominated Weber to be on a published list. Remarkably, whoever nominated Weber used the following heading: “Meagan Weber, DPT. CEO of Scotland County Hospital (Memphis, Miss.).”
