Memphis Community Players Holds Fashion Show

The Memphis Community Players opened the “Costumes and Vintage Fashions Fashion Show” at the Memphis Theatre on May 2, 2026, with the Color Guard from the Memphis VFW presenting the national flag to the audience. The group represents the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post 4958. Twenty-four models showcased over fifty costumes from several of the Players’ theater productions, vintage fashions spanning decades from the 40’s, to the 1990’s, black dresses, formals, and unique/innovative “Just Because” designs. Community Invited To Revolutionary War Patriot Marker Dedication

The community is invited to help celebrate a special piece of Scotland County history during a marker dedication ceremony for Revolutionary War Patriot Richard Gale Sr. The Jauflione Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host the ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the Downing House Museum Complex, 311 S. By David Sharp Knox County scored the first run in the opening inning of April 22, 2026 Lewis and Clark baseball play with Scotland County. Creighton Karhoff singled and scored a first inning run. Carter Clatt drove in two Tiger runs in the Scotland County second inning. Brody Wheeler plated another run for a two run lead after two innings. VFW Post 4958 presents Young American Award to SCR-1 School District’s Kindergarten Classes

On April 21st, after hearing both Kindergarten Classes recite the Pledge of Allegiance, VFW Post 4958 Commander David Long and Past Quartermaster Dale Bienusa presented each student with The VFW Young American Award. The VFW leadership had been at the school a week prior and handed out a “study card” to each student. All students recited the Pledge of Allegiance flawlessly.

The Scotland County Commission spent late March and early April addressing a series of county building, road and administrative matters, including elevator upgrades, road and bridge work, mowing and carpet bids, and questions involving fire district boundaries.
