 MARY C. KETCHUM

 Kirksville, Missouri 1927 – 2025 

Mary Carol Ketchum, age 97, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Sunday morning, January 26, 2025, at the Northeast regional Medical Center under Hospice Care Inc. Mary was born November 17, 1927 near St. James, Missouri. 

Mary was united in marriage to Leland Ketchum on November 18, 1949. To this union four children were born, Clifford Roy, Thomas William, Rebecca Jane, and Arron Lee 

Mary graduated from Downing High School in 1946. Then began taking teaching classes and teaching in area school before marriage. She and Leland Farmed with plant and animals in Scotland County until his retirement. 

Mary was faithful to and a member of local Churches. She frequently taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and helped as needed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel Holton; her husband Leland on November 1993, her brothers, Charles Holton, George Holton, and Robert Holton; her sister Ruth Alexander; her son, Bill Ketchum, grandson, Jesse William 

Ketchum; and son-in-law, Jack Thompson. 

Mary is survived by her children; Clifford (Linda) Ketchum, Jane (Vern) Penner, Arron (Kim) Ketchum and daughter-in law, Kelley Ketchum; eleven grandchildren: Carrie Orr, Amy (James) Conner, Ryan (Micheline) Orr, Kayla (Edwin) Palma, Tracy(Kevin) Wallace, Stephen (Gabby) Ketchum, Josh Ketchum, Jason (Stephanie) Ketchum, Jack (Junia) Thompson, Justin (Katelyn) Ketchum, and Jenna Ketchum; in addition she has 24 great-grandchildren. 

Memorials may be given to the Richland Baptist Church in care of Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555. 

Funeral services were held January 29, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with David Holton and Sam Burkholder officiating. Interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery 

Pallbearers were Ryan Orr, Jason Ketchum, Josh Ketchum, Justin Ketchum, Rhet Ketchum, and Stephen Ketchum. Honorary Pallbearers were Nick Orr, James Conner, Dakota Conner, and Weston Conner.
