TED JOSEPH THRASHER
Ted Joseph Thrasher, 71, passed away on December 7, 2024, at Silverado Memory Care in Overland Park, Kansas, after a loving goodbye from his family. He is now free from his battle with Alzheimer’s to go on to his reward in Christ.
Ted was born in Kirksville, Missouri on November 30, 1953, the son of Floyd “Rufus” Thrasher and Leta (Couch) Thrasher. On June 22, 1984, Ted was united in marriage to Julia Campbell in Lebanon, Oklahoma. They were blessed to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Ted graduated from Electronics Institute of Kansas City, Missouri as an Honors Graduate in 1972. He obeyed the Gospel in 1979 and was a faithful member of the church of Christ. Ted was a 1983 graduate from the Oklahoma College of the Bible in McLoud, Oklahoma. His first preaching assignment was in Lebanon, Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life, Julia. He faithfully preached the Gospel for 35 years laboring with the Park Street church of Christ in Olathe, Kansas for over 20 years. Ted was active in the beginning and continuation of the Online Academy of Biblical Studies where he served as the Director for eight years and kept the work going technically while also instructing. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and vacations with family.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Leta Thrasher, and his brother, Tom Thrasher.
Ted is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julia (Campbell) Thrasher; his son, Trent (Leah) Thrasher; his daughter, Leah Smith; eight grandchildren, Jaya, Lydia, Layla, Scarlett, Samuel, Madelyn, Sylas, and Brycen; sister-in-law, Sandra Thrasher; nephew, Scott (Denise) Thrasher; nieces, Traci Thrasher, Terri (John) Miller, Tammi Bassett and many close friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Crafton- Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri. Burial will follow at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation will be held from 7:00- 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in the funeral home chapel.
