CHARLOTTE “JEAN” HULL
Charlotte “Jean” Hull, 80, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at the LaBelle Manor Nursing Home in LaBelle, Missouri.
Jean is the daughter of Cleo Metz and Martha Whiting, born in Iowa City, Iowa, on January 29, 1944. Jean was raised by her foster parents, Ray and Hazel (Spicknell) Feldman.
Jean attended grade school in Etna, Missouri and high school in Gorin, Missouri, and later graduated from Wyaconda High School in the Class of 1962. She continued her education at the Tech School in Keokuk, Iowa.
On July 1, 1964, in Kahoka, Missouri, Jean married Eddie Lane Hull and to this union two children were born, Alan Lane and Kathy Jean.
As a child, Jean loved spending time with animals, especially her horses. She loved to go on long trail rides with them. Once married, she and Eddie showed horses and enjoyed many trail rides together. Jean also loved reading, along with sewing, cross stitching, knitting, and raising Keeshond and Black Labrador puppies. She made many outfits for her children and several Afghans. Every morning Jean could be found eating cheerios, drinking hot tea, and reading a good book.
Jean worked for the National Garment Factory in Memphis, Missouri and at the Scotland County Hospital as an outpatient receptionist. She was also involved with 4-H for over 40 years. Jean took on many 4-H leadership roles in Clark and Scotland counties and enjoyed showing her dogs and going to dog shows. She was very involved in Saddle Club and Dog Club.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Mitchell) Pence of Memphis, Missouri; Francis Lane Pence (Rachel) of Memphis, Missouri; Landon Lee Pence (Alyssa); two great grandchildren, Harper and Ryan Pence; very dear friends, Joyce and Joe Eddie Harvey of Memphis, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her four-legged friends, Molly, Spicy, Rascal, and Daisy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo Metz and Martha Whiting; foster parents, Ray and Hazel Feldman; husband Eddie Lane Hull; and son Alan Lane Hull.
A Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
