HOLLIS LEON WOODS
Hollis Leon Woods, 66, of Keokuk, IA, died Monday, November 11, 2024, at Henry County Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, IA, with his wife, Connie, by his side.
He was born the son of Clarence Ivan Woods and Jeannetta Lee Morrison Woods on February 13, 1958, at Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital, Kirksville, MO. Hollis and his siblings were raised on the family farm near Crawford west of Memphis, MO. He graduated from Scotland County High School, Memphis, MO, and attended Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville, MO, where he was a member of the Phi Lambda Chi fraternity.
Hollis married Connie Bates of Keokuk, IA, on June 18, 2000. He worked as a machine operator for many years. Hollis earned his 2nd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, which he was very proud of, and instructed the art of Taekwondo to many others as well as young people. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, and his great-great niece BrookLyenn, who was born on his 50th birthday, play basketball and softball. It’s being said that Hollis gives the best hugs and that he loved his dogs.
Hollis is survived by his wife, Connie of Keokuk, IA; two sisters: Bonnie Schultz and Gaylene Woods- White of Kirksville, MO; four brothers: James “Jim” of Arbela, MO; Randy (Karen), Charles (significant other Janette Graham), and Kevin (Debbie) of Memphis, MO; two stepsons: Eric (Lisa) and Craig (Katrina) Vincent of Keokuk, IA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents, stepmother Virginia, brother Paul A Woods and stepson Howard Vincent.
Per his wishes, Hollis has been cremated, and he will be buried in the family cemetery with immediate family members only at the Woods family farm, Memphis, MO. He requested no memorial services to be held. Condolences may be left online or mailed to King-Lynk Funeral Home, Ft. Madison, IA.
