FLOYD MILTON WALKER
Floyd Milton Walker, 92, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at his home in Memphis, Missouri.
He was born February 29, 1932 in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Pearl and Grace Hull Walker.
He attended Scotland County Schools, and played on the Tigers basketball team. He graduated from Scotland County High School in the Class of 1950.
Floyd worked for Struble’s Men’s Clothing Store until he enlisted in the US Army in 1952 and served as a radar technician during the Korean Conflict until he was discharged in 1954. After returning home he started work for Basil Templeman where he fixed, sold and installed electronics. Floyd worked most his life at US Bank, formerly known as Bank of Memphis, he started by cleaning the bank and worked his way up until he later retired as the Vice President – Cashier of the bank in January 1989.
Floyd married Donna Elaine Buckley on February 4, 1953 at the United Methodist Church in Memphis, Missouri.
He enjoyed quail and pheasant hunting in his younger days, he liked fishing, watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball games, car racing and fixing up cars and selling them to help make extra money for his family. Floyd was always tinkering around and doing home projects. He played a big part in helping develop what is now the Johnson Park and spent many years on the H.U.D. Housing board, but above all he loved spending time with his family.
Floyd is survived by a son, Brent Walker and his fiancé, Charlotte Stelter of Memphis, Missouri; one daughter, Deb King and her husband Jack of Bradenton, Florida; two grandchildren; Mitchell Walker and Megan Fain; and one great granddaughter, Audrianna Walker.
Floyd is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Donna Walker; his parents, Pearl and Grace Walker; one sister, Dorothy Schell and two brothers; Lee Walker and Glen Walker.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the funeral home in Memphis, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Memphis Cemetery at Memphis, Missouri.
