 LARRY DANIELS

 LARRY DANIELS

Larry Daniels, 81 years old, of Liberty, MO, left this life on May 25, 2024.

Larry was born on Oct 28, 1942 and grew up in Savannah, MO. He moved to Liberty for his senior year of high school and graduated in 1960. He attended William Jewel College for just one year, where he met Helen Richards, his future wife. Larry transferred to Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg and completed a Bachelors degree in Industrial Arts and Masters in Teaching. He had a long career as an industrial arts teacher in the Kansas City Public School district. Even after retirement you couldn’t take the teacher out of him, as he was always sharing his knowledge and skills, particularly with his children and grandchildren.

Larry was known for his gentle nature, his creativity, and his helpfulness. He was a life-long volunteer with Church and with organizations that serve others. He often reached out to assist people using his handyman skills and would share his craftsman talents through his woodworking creations. He amused all who listened to his unique stories about his pets, including taking chickens, ducks, and birds into the house, much to the chagrin of his mother.

Larry cherished his family. He leaves behind his wife – Helen, two daughters – Cheryl and Susan, and four grandchildren – Keely, Grant, Chastyn and Lily. Helen and Larry would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this August. Together they enjoyed traveling, taking pictures, making photo albums, researching genealogy and writing about family history. Larry loved working on projects in his basement workshop, especially with his growing grandchildren. He had many hobbies and never found a project he couldn’t tackle. He even made his own woodworking tools, iron forge, and photography darkroom to help accomplish his creations. He spent decades working with leather, forging, making knives, furniture and wood crafts. Larry also enjoyed traveling, hiking, and hunting at his paternal family farm in Scotland County, MO.
