EDINA, Mo. — The Knox County Ring of Smoke BBQ Competition Fundraiser will begin Friday, April 17, with an evening of activities at the Knox County Fairgrounds aimed at supporting 4-H fairground improvements.

Opening night will start at 5 p.m. with a cruise-in featuring cars, trucks and motorcycles. The come-and-go event is presented by Hunters Hot Rods & Customs and is open to all vehicle types.

At 6 p.m., the Hurdland Volunteer Fire Department will host a cornhole tournament, offering a $500 payout. The tournament is part of the evening’s lineup of activities designed to engage the community and raise funds.

An all-you-can-eat Wing Ding will follow at 7 p.m., with $10 admission. The meal is provided courtesy of Moink and Mayberry Farms.

Live music by Shakey Ground is scheduled from 8 to 10 p.m.

Local vendors will be set up throughout the evening, offering food, goods and community interaction as part of the event.

Organizers say the opening night is intended to kick off the full Ring of Smoke weekend while bringing the community together for food, music and family-friendly activities. Over 20 participants are registered to participate in the barbecue competition. Attendees will be able to sample various entries and $5 tickets will be sold for attendees to sample entries in the turkey category and vote for a winner.

The event will take place at the Knox County Fairgrounds at the Edina City Lake, located at 52123 State Highway 15 in Edina. If rainy weather is forecasted, organizers will change the venue to the Edina Town Square. Announcements will be made on the “Knox County 4-H & FFA Ring of Smoke” Facebook page.
