Scotland County Holds Off Highland Cougars

Scotland County (7-1) was able to get to the free throw line 29 times, sinking 16 charity tosses during a 62-58 win over Highland (0-5) during December 15, 2025 non conference boys basketball play at Scotland County.

The Cougars made one more field goal and one more three ball on the night. Highland was able to cash in seven of 14 from the free throw line.

Scotland County started with a 6-0 run to a 12-6 lead early on. A very solid Highland team led between five and 11 points most of the night. Highland was able to hang with the Tigers on their home court.

Scotland County led 14-11 after one quarter of action. The Tigers held their six point edge with a 30- 24 halftime margin. Scotland County reeled off a good third quarter for a 45-33 three quarter lead.

Highland made a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. The Cougars made plays, pulling within four points on a Cam Roeder three ball with 11 seconds remaining. The early hole was too deep to escape resulting in the 62-58 Tiger win.

Braylon Campbell scored 17 Scotland County points. Jaden Berguson tossed in 15 points. Carter Clatt was the third Tiger in double figures with 11 points. Tayte Richmond scored nine Scotland County points.

Sophomore guard Cam Roeder led Highland with 20 points. Cason Bartz tossed in 14 points. Brighton Johnson scored 11 Cougar points. Briscoe Post added eight points.
