A familiar local business is entering a new chapter as Countryside Flowers & Gift Shop welcomes new ownership.
As of mid-June, Tasha Fadiga, her husband Jared, and her mother Kristy Eggleston have officially taken over the shop from previous owners Missy Monroe and Tessa Post.
Located at 428 South Market Street in Memphis, Countryside Flowers & Gift Shop has long been known for its beautiful floral arrangements and wide selection of gifts. The new owners celebrated their Grand Opening on September 20, which drew more than 100 visitors and marked a strong start for the business.
Tasha said buying the flower shop was an unexpected but exciting opportunity.
“I saw the ad on Facebook, and I messaged the owner,” Tasha said. “It was an opportunity, and I am young, so I thought, why not take a chance.”
The family purchased the shop and reopened it in mid-June.
“I had no training, and I was a little nervous because I bought it and opened it up four days after signing the deed, and we have been going strong ever since,” Tasha said.
“This has been probably the craziest thing I have done in my entire life. Every day is literally an adventure.”
One of the biggest challenges, Tasha said, has been learning the names of different flowers and how to arrange them. She credits her family and friends for helping her get started and for supporting the shop’s daily operations.
Countryside Flowers & Gift Shop offers a wide variety of floral arrangements and gifts, including home décor, memorial and sympathy items, houseplants, candles, wind chimes, stuffed animals, and a Christian Corner featuring faith-based gifts. The shop also keeps a selection of ready-made arrangements available for customers who need something in a hurry.
While a few flowers come from local growers, most are supplied through a wholesaler in Quincy, Illinois.
Tasha and her family are excited to continue serving the community and are grateful for the warm support they have received since taking over.
“We encourage anybody to give us ideas of what they would like to see here,” Tasha said.
“It is such a blessing. Flowers make people happy in situations that might not be the happiest, so being able to provide a breath of fresh air when you get flowers or a gift is nice.”
Countryside Flowers & Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For updates and announcements, follow Countryside Flowers on Facebook or call 660-465- 8521
