The Scotland County Rotary Club held their annual banquet on June 25, 2025, for the purpose of presenting scholarship recipients with a check and installation of officers. Rotary club members and invited guests enjoyed a meal catered by the ladies of the VFW Auxiliary and served at the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial VFW Post 4958 in Memphis.
The scholarships totaled $2,500 this year and $500 checks were presented to five 2025 Scotland County Seniors. The scholarship recipients are: Cody Briggs (Parents: Brian Briggs & Melinda Briggs) attending State Tech, Owen Brown (Parents: Kevin & Amy Brown) attending Truman State University, Payton Miller (Parents: Robert & Christina Miller) attending the University of Missouri, Brenna Phillips (Parents: Shawn & Kristal Phillips) attending Moberly Area Community College and Beau Triplett (Parents: Curt and Vanessa Triplett) attending the University of Missouri Columbia.
This year’s SC Rotary Club officers are: President-Kevin Brown, Attorney; Vice-President-Corey Stott, General Manager at Hometown Radio Group KMEM & KUDV; Secretary-Jeff Behrens, Gerth & Baskett Furniture/Gerth Funeral Service and Treasurer-Joe Fulk, Retired.
The club will be calling BINGO at the 2025 Antique Fair in Memphis on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (August 21, 22 & 23). Please come out and support your local Rotary Club. The club has retired the propane bbq cooker and will not be serving chicken and chops at the Antique Fair this year.
