Danny and Terri (Barnes) Emel of Memphis will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2025. The Rev. Len Camp performed the double-ring ceremony at the First Christian Church in Memphis. Danny is the son of the late Elton and Opal Emel. Terri is the daughter of the late Richard and Kathryn Barnes. They are the parents of two sons, Evan and Andrea of O’Fallon, MO, and Aaron and Ashley of Ashland, MO. Their four granddaughters are Isabella, Eva, Finley, and Charley.
Mr. Emel attended Northeast MO State University and worked 6 years at Burroughs Corporation in Kirksville as a machine operator and foreman. Danny farmed for 25 years while also owning and running the Scotland County Livestock Market. After selling “the barn” he worked for Ryan Co. out of Taunton, MA, as a Superintendent doing electrical and infrastructure upgrades. He later changed companies and worked for Zachry Engineering in San Antonio, TX, as a field engineer and a commissioning manager of natural gas power plants. Danny worked many jobs for each company in many states on sites from coast to coast to coast.
Mrs. Emel graduated from NMSU and taught elementary and learning disabilities for 32 years-2 in Gorin and 30 in Memphis. She is active in the local Beta group. Terri has enjoyed traveling to many cities Danny has worked in throughout his 22 years on the road career.
Both have retired and enjoy spending time with their family and friends. Danny likes gardening, attending Cardinals games, and putting up Christmas lights on their two-story house. Terri enjoys working in her flower beds, doing yardwork, and preserving Danny’s fruits and vegetables.
