CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Lou Kraus the March Spirit of SCH award winner at Scotland County Hospital & Clinics. Mary Lou has been working in the Housekeeping/Environmental Services Department since January 2002. Prior to working at Scotland County Hospital, she worked for National Garment for 21 years and then she worked for Micro Energy for six years. Here is what her nominator said about her: “She has demonstrated, time and time again, her commitment and loyalty to this facility and our outlying clinics. She puts in far more than 40 hours a week, in the housekeeping department, doing tasks, tasks, and more tasks because the department is short-staffed. She has never hesitated to stay longer in order to help her co-workers check off all the tasks on the cleaning lists. Plus, she comes in early, stays late, works split shifts and you never hear her complain. It’s evident she takes pride in having our facility and clinics look clean and tidy, day in and day out, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. She is an extraordinary human, a loyal employee and a dedicated co-worker that deserves to be recognized for her efforts of consistently going above and beyond her job duties.” Mary Lou lives east of Memphis. She is a 1969 Gorin High School graduate. She recently lost her husband, Dennis, of 33 years. Together they have four boys, nine grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
