Murfreesboro, Tennessee 

Betty J. Campbell Clair, 91, formerly of Memphis, Missouri passed away on August 7, 2024, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family. 

Betty was born on the 23rd day of June 1933, she was a hard and dedicated worker throughout her life. She worked as a factory worker for many years. She then started working as a CNA at nursing homes, and hospitals. She then started her own hair salon business. 

Betty married Raymond Campbell when she was seventeen years old. Betty enjoyed being married to a Veteran. She loved her Country and the people who served our flag. She would often say that was one of the things she was most proud of. She lost Raymond due to cancer. Years later she met her second husband James Clair. Jim was also a veteran of the United States Navy. Betty and Jim enjoyed traveling around this great country together. 

Betty shared lots of memories with all of us throughout the years. The trip Betty talked about the most was her and Jim’s trip to Niagara Falls. Betty enjoyed spending her days eating lunch and playing cards at the nutrition site in Memphis. Betty will be remembered as a loving and caring lady who loved her country and her family and friends. 

She is preceded in death by Raymond Campbell, James Clair, Andrew Howe, Linda Brogan, Pearl Swank, Lenard Garman. 

She is survived by Special Family Erica & Derek Francis, Kelly Brogan, Katina Parrott, Kevin Brogan, Audrey & Joe Detweiler, and Lindsey Howe. 

Memorials in lieu flowers are suggested to the family for their discretion and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Memorial graveside services will be held Saturday afternoon, 8/17, at 4:00 P.M. at the Friendship Cemetery west of Memphis with Pastor Leon Buford officiating.
