Lee Morris Riebel, 47, of rural Downing, Missouri passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, in northern Scotland County, Missouri.
Lee was born September 25, 1976, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Tommy Morris and Jan Arline Hendricker Riebel.
He attended Scotland County High school and graduated in the class of 1995. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy, before returning to Downing to make his home. He worked as a farm hand for fifteen years then went to ZML as a welder. He enjoyed horses, team roping in 4H as a kid, later bought old junk cars to tinker with and had a green thumb raising a garden, but seldom ate the produce, he enjoyed giving it to friends and neighbors.
He was a lifetime member of the Memphis VFW in Memphis, Missouri.
Lee is survived by his mother, Jan Slayton of Memphis, Missouri; his father, Tommy Riebel and his companion Nancy Girardin of Memphis, Missouri; aunts and uncles, Sandra Blake of Memphis, Missouri; Connie and Eric Sargent of Loveland, Colorado; Mary and Dean Stocker of Drakesville, Iowa; Roger and Crystal Riebel of Mitchellville, Iowa; Cheryl and Rick Golbricht of Memphis, Missouri; Karla Matlock of Shelbyville, Missouri; a niece, Katelyn Jo Harrity of Blue Springs, Missouri; step brothers, Tim and Barbie Slayton of Downing, Missouri, Joe and Peggy Slayton of Downing, Missouri, Joan and Steve Morris of Memphis, Missouri, Tina and Larry Vangilder of the Kansas City area; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Ed Slayton; aunts and uncles, Billy Blake, Clay and Tammy Riebel, and a sister, Kathy Jo and her husband Joel Patrick Harrity.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Memphis with Full Military Honors by the Memphis VFW.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Lee Riebel may be left to the Brock Cemetery or the Memphis VFW. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home 378 South Market Memphis, Missouri 63555.
