Emmett Junior Elliott, 85 of Downing, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
The son of Emmett Roberts and Rose Marie (Anderson) Elliott, he was born on June 17, 1938 in Spencer, Iowa. Junior attended school in Luray, Missouri until his freshman year of high school, when he was needed at home to help on the farm. Junior was united in marriage on July 29, 1956 to Millie May Mounce in Memphis, Missouri and to this union four children were born, Michael Lee, Rodney Dee, Scott Dean and Wanda Jean.
Junior is survived by his wife, Millie of Downing, Missouri; three children, Michael Elliott and wife, Lisa of Milledgeville, Georgia, Rodney Elliott and wife, Laurie of Downing, Missouri and Scott Elliott and wife, Nancy of Downing, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Marilyn Thomas of Bonaparte, Iowa and Zelma Muntz of Fairfield, Iowa; two brothers, Dean Elliott of Bonaparte, Iowa and Francis Elliott of Wichita, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Margo Elliott of North Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Junior is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Wanda Elliott Cain; two grandsons, Kerry Elliott and Tony Elliott and one brother, Jerry Elliott.
Junior owned and operated his own logging and machinery business for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and camping with friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri at 3:00 p.m. with Larry Smith of Downing, Missouri officiating. Special music selections will be “How Great Thou Art,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Daddy’s Hands.” Pallbearers will be Doug Courtright, Greg Elliott, Rodney Newland, Bob Courtright, Nathan Sayre and Tad Mallett. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Burial will be in the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, Missouri.
