November 15, 1921 – January 27, 2024 

Ethel Evelyn Wine, 102 of Shelbina, Missouri passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Shelbina Villa where she had been a resident since February 2023. 

The daughter of Marius Jensen and Zella (Snyder), she was born on November 15, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa. Evelyn accepted Jesus as her savior and was baptized as a teenager. Evelyn was a 1939 graduate of Exira High School in Exira, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she taught in rural schools for three years, followed by employment with the Defense Department in war work in 1943 for approximately two and a half years. Evelyn was united in marriage to Dale Evans Wine on February 4, 1945 in St. Joseph, Missouri and this union was blessed with three sons, Mark, Stephen and James. In 1954 Evelyn and Dale moved from Moline, Illinois to a farm in Downing, Missouri where they resided for 22 years raising their sons. In 1976 they moved to Springfield, Missouri until 1983 when they purchased a motor home and traveled to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico border towns several times. They then moved to Marshfield, Missouri in 2003. Evelyn and Dale were married just short of 61 wonderful years. 

Evelyn is survived by her three sons; Mark Wine, and wife, Vickie of Shelbina, Missouri, Stephen Wine of Springfield, Massachusetts and James Wine and wife, Roxanne of Chico, Texas; seven grandsons and one granddaughter; four great grandsons and seven great granddaughters; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jones of Hamilton, Illinois and Marjorie Bower of Payson, Arizona; numerous nieces and nephew, special friends Mary Cox and Niki and other family members. 

Evelyn is preceded by her parents, husband, Dale Wine, three brothers, Donald Jensen, Leo Jensen and Wyman Jensen. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith assisted by Walker Franke of the Downing Christian Church. Special selections of “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “I’ll Fly Away”. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Dan Wine, Matthew Wine, Thomas Wine, Robert Wine, Wayne Anderson and Craig Comstock. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Wine, Alan Wine, Brandon Wine, Raysha Gibson and Royce Jeffries. Memorials have been established for the Downing Christian Church or charity of donor’s choice. Burial will be held at the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
