Scotland County Qualifies Four Events for State at South Callaway Sectional

MOKANE, Mo. — May 17, 2025 — The Scotland County Tigers are sending a strong contingent to the Class 2 state championships after four top-four finishes at Saturday’s MSHSAA Class 2 Sectional 2 meet at South Callaway High School. With a blend of speed, athleticism, and composure, Scotland County’s athletes stood tall under pressure and earned their chance to compete on Missouri’s biggest stage.

Kwyn Hamlin led the charge with an outstanding triple-qualifier performance. She finished 2nd in the 200-meter dash (26.53), 3rd in the 100 meters (12.85), and 4th in the high jump (1.55m). Hamlin’s explosive sprinting and well-rounded athleticism gave Scotland County a major lift and solidified her spot as one of the premier competitors in the sectional.

In the field events, Charlee Holland delivered an impressive 2nd place finish in the long jump (5.07m) to punch her ticket to state. She also placed 5th in the triple jump (10.4m), narrowly missing a second qualifying spot.

Deana McKinney added to the Tigers’ state-bound roster with a clutch effort in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing 3rd in 48.83 seconds and showing great form over the final stretch to secure her place in Jefferson City.

Although Matyson Buford placed 6th in the shot put (10.28m) and Layne Stott finished 8th in the javelin (42.44m), both delivered solid performances in deep fields and gained valuable postseason experience.
