Memphis, MO – July 17, 2024 – When John Groff opened his first computer technology (tech) business in Pennsylvania, he didn’t expect to open a shop in Northeast Missouri years later.
Groff has the heart to help better serve the nuanced needs of Mennonite people, and all those who lack lifelong experience and exposure to tech.
“Customer service is big in the culture. That’s how we stay in business,” said Groff. “We serve anybody.”
Groff, 36, of Reinholds, PA, began his first computer and tech store in 2010 in Ephrata, PA. He was the sole employee in the beginning.
Over the years, his business grew to include another location in Pennsylvania. Then, he opened one in New York. At the beginning of this year, he opened his fourth location in Missouri.
Just over fourteen years later, Groff oversees 13 employees across three states and his business serves roughly 2,500 customers.
“We’ve never advertised other than help wanted. It’s word of mouth, a friend of a friend. That’s how we’ve grown over the years,” said Groff.
In Northeast Missouri, his three person team is equipped with some of the best tech hardware seen in the county.
“We carry just about everything you need. Computers and all related products, networks, phone systems, camera systems. We do repairs. Bring it in, or they can come take a look,” said Groff. “We support hardware and networks for agriculture and varying industries. Agriculture is just one of them.”
Groff said Tech Support One is more than a computer store. Besides offering computers, hardware, software, and accessories, his team is equipped to build custom software.
“We build solutions for things like accounting software. We can build custom solutions to already existing software or build something new,” said Groff. “We can give support by phone and in person, made a recommendation and give an estimate – and let the customer decide. There is no fee for an exploration. We don’t charge until we start some meaningful work,” said Groff.
Tech Support One recently relocated from the building Groff set up shop in, in January, to a newly built building next door.
The business is still located next door to Green Acres Sew & Vac, which also relocated to the new building, at 211 West Grand Avenue.
Groff spends his time between his businesses and visits Memphis about every six weeks. His three person team of local staff keeps the business running 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
