MEMPHIS, Mo. — The Scotland County Commission has moved forward with multiple infrastructure and facility updates following its recent meetings on June 26, July 2, and July 3.
On July 2, commissioners voted unanimously to vacate the railroad crossings on County Roads 113 (Hicks Road) and 156 (Colt Lane). The board also approved a proposal from J Reiff Construction, LLC to repair courthouse steps and install five concrete pads for new benches.
Cleaning and maintenance also featured prominently in the sessions. Lewellen’s ServiceMaster was contracted to clean the hall floors and courtroom carpet at the courthouse. Pest control concerns in the courthouse basement were addressed with a call to Aggro.
In other matters, the commission authorized the signing of Progress Invoice No. 10 for project BRO-R099(001) and approved several vendor invoices, including those from United Systems and Hopkins Lumber.
Courthouse electrical issues were discussed in both the July 2 and July 3 meetings. Commissioners contacted Electrical Evolution regarding problems in the circuit clerk’s office and courtroom. A quote for the necessary repairs is expected.
During the July 3 session, the commission signed agreements between the Scotland County Recorder’s Office and the Scotland Abstract Company & Title. Treasurer Tasha Fadiga also reported low funds at the Lancaster Family Cemetery, and commissioners discussed a potential website update with 54 Design Group, LLC.
A June 26 meeting included updates from elected officials and regional representatives, with the next joint meeting scheduled for Sept. 25 at 10 a.m.
The commission is next set to meet July 9 at the courthouse.
