The Knox County Corn Festival Quilt Show offers an opportunity for everyone to showcase the talent of regional quilt makers, both past and present, and at every skill level. The show has featured pieces ranging from antiques to newly crafted quilts, submitted by the quilt makers themselves, as well as by family, friends, and local collectors.
Quilters of all ages and skill levels, from beginner to advanced, are invited to participate in the show. There are no fees to submit quilts.
Visitors to the quilt show are also welcome free of charge. The event will be held on Saturday, September 7, at the Knox County Community Center in Edina during the annual Knox County Corn Festival.
The Knox County Kut-Ups Quilt Club hosts the quilt show in conjunction with the Corn Festival, attracting a diverse group of visitors—from die-hard quilt enthusiasts to festival goers who might not otherwise attend a quilt show.
The club will accept quilt show entries on Friday morning, September 6, from 10 a.m. to noon at the community center, located at 207 N. Fourth St. in Edina.
The quilt show will be open to the public on Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Quilt show entries will be available for pickup between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. following the show.
The ladies of the club have been busy crafting and collecting donations for the Quilt Show Silent Auction, and promoting this year’s raffle quilt, which was pieced together by club members throughout the winter, spring, and early summer.
Raffle tickets for this year’s quilt are being sold by members ahead of the Corn Festival and will be available during the show. The raffle quilt winner is not required to be present for the drawing. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday near the end of the quilt show.
The Knox County Kut-Ups Quilt Club meets on the third Monday of each month, January through November, at 1:30 p.m. in the basement of the Edina United Methodist Church. The club attracts quilters from throughout the area. Monthly meetings involve taking care of club business, featuring a quilt-making or sewing-related program, and “show and tell,” where attendees are invited to bring in projects to share with the club. Everyone interested in quilt making, regardless of skill level, is welcome to attend. There are no fees to become a member or to attend meetings.
