 LELA MAE TRUEBLOOD 

Lela Mae Trueblood departed this life surrounded by her family on June 27, 2024, in Scotland County, Missouri. She was born on June 10, 1932 to Okla Lee and Bessie Walker Mathes in Scotland County, Missouri. Being one of ten children, Lela was the last of her generation to go to heaven. 

Lela married Bob G. Trueblood on June 26, 1955, in Scotland County, Missouri, and the two had four children: Janet L. (Joseph Heptig), Carl G. (Rose Carlin), David K. (Lori Orf), and Randy D. (Kelly Meier). Lela was very proud of her nine grandchildren: Jillian Baldwin Kim (Hyeunmo), Angela Trueblood Cochran (Curtis), Diane Baldwin, Logan Trueblood, Chad Trueblood (Carolyn Thomas), Travis Trueblood (Megan Hatfield), Cara Trueblood Williams (Matthew), Austin Cochran, and Kyndra Cochran. In her later years, it was the great-grandchildren who delighted her: Logan Williams, Kyleigh Thomas, Bentley Trueblood, Evan Cochran, Addison Williams, Hallie Trueblood, Zander Cochran, Kale Trueblood, Emma Kim, and Sylas Trueblood. 

Lela was known by many in the community as a long-time employee of Cook’s Men’s Store and then at the Scotland County Library, both in Memphis, Missouri. She was known for her sewing and alteration skills as well as her ready smile and gentle kindness. 

Lela was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and their spouses, and her son-in-law, USAF Capt. Phillip Baldwin. 

Memorials may be made to the Scotland County Cancer Fund and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555. 

Funeral Services for Lela Mae Trueblood were held on July 3, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Internment followed in the Memphis Cemetery. Pallbearers were Logan Trueblood, Chad Trueblood, Travis Trueblood, Austin Cochran, Curtis Cochran, and Hyeunmo Kim.
