The Scotland County High School Class of 2024 celebrated with a graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in the high school gymnasium as family, friends, and faculty gathered to honor the accomplishments of the graduating seniors.
The ceremony began with the traditional entrance of the graduates to the familiar strains of “Pomp & Circumstance,” performed by the SCR-1 Concert Band. Makynlee Jack, the class secretary, officially opened the event, setting a tone for the day.
High School Principal Kirk Stott took the stage to present honors to outstanding students, recognizing their academic achievements.
The audience then enjoyed two inspiring speeches. Kendal Anderson, the 2024 class president, delivered her address, reflecting on the journey the class had shared and the bright futures awaiting them. Following Kendal, Mr. Sam Berkowitz, a retired teacher, former coach, and former Missouri House Representative for District 1, shared his wisdom and encouragement.
Principal Stott returned to introduce the senior class. Each student crossed the stage and received their diploma from Derek Weber, president of the SCR-1 Board of Education, marking the official transition from students to graduates.
The ceremony concluded on a high note with a senior video montage that captured the moments and memories of the graduating class. Hugh Baker, class vice president, delivered the closing address. The event wrapped up with the SCR-1 Concert Band’s rendition of “Wave The Flag”.
The Scotland County R-1 High School Class of 2024 graduation ceremony celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of the 2024 graduating students. It was a day to remember.
