2021 Missouri Agribusiness Academy class Kicks Off
Mid-Missouri Tour
On Monday, the 2021 Missouri Agribusiness Academy kicked off their tour of agribusinesses in Mid-Missouri. Over three days, the students also explored educational opportunities and met with agricultural leaders from throughout the industry.
The students started their tour with a tour of the Missouri Department of Agriculture, meeting with Director Chris Chinn and the directors of each of our five divisions. At lunch, Director Chinn introduced leaders from agriculture groups and boards from across the state, followed by an in-depth media training. To cap off the first day of their tour, students heard from Dr. Spain from the University of Missouri.
Throughout the second and third days of the tour, the MAbA class visited the Missouri-Pacific Lumber Company, Boonville MFA, Les Bourgeois, Bay Farm, Select Turf and Carver Farm. They also heard from Jim Bellis from Missouri State University.
Since 1988, the Missouri Agribusiness Academy (MAbA) has awarded 1,000 academy memberships through a competitive application and interview process. To be eligible for the Missouri Agribusiness Academy, students must come from a farming family or be an active member of the National FFA Organization or 4-H.
