Phyllis Jean Gaffney

Phyllis Jean Gaffney, 65, of Milton, Iowa passed away on October 20, 2020 at her home. She was born on August 5, 1955 in Davenport, Iowa to Mary Singleton Lucas and Herbert Lucas. Phyllis married Alan Gaffney on February 16, 1974 in Memphis, Missouri.
For more than forty years, she helped build a family farm with her husband. In 2018, Phyllis retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency after 27 years of service working in the Davis County and Lee County offices. She enjoyed time with her family, especially her granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband; three children, Amanda (Eric) Williams of Bloomfield, Iowa, Becky (James) Rafferty of Swisher, Iowa, Brett (Erin) Gaffney of Mt Juliet, Tennessee; five granddaughters, Elora Williams, Molly Rafferty, Katelyn Williams, Maggie Rafferty, Clara Mae Gaffney; mother-in-law, Thelma Gaffney; two sisters, Elaine Cross, Sharon Donaldson; numerous sisters-and-brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lucille Smith; father, Herbert Lucas; stepfather, Donald Smith; and father-in-law, Norris Gaffney.
Visitation will begin at noon on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Her wish was to be cremated and no services are planned.
