BE OPEN TO GOD
I entered the religious scene bent on getting everything right. In order to do so, it was necessary to keep many truths of God from entering my heart for such would disrupt my organized accumulation of Bible knowledge. I was reducing my Bible to the Simplified Version; meaning reading it according to my own meager understanding.
Over time a challenge, even strain, arose. God seemed to keep moving the borders. He seemed to move some markers out while bringing some in. Such fluctuation was quickly tabbed by many as me being weak and insecure in faith. It seemed that way to me, too.
I found myself torn between trying to learn from God while doing my best to adhere to the “sound teaching” that carried severe warning from some around. Yet, God keeps teaching and training and growing our hearts toward Him. I finally concluded that it takes work to believe.
I encourage you in your faith-work. Keep gaining momentum in believing more of Him if such would mean you would necessarily be called upon to shed a bit of your tradition. Jesus walked that path. We can do it as well. Always do what you can to be open to God.
