With the help of our patrons and volunteers, we had another great year at the Museum Complex even though it was in an abbreviated fashion due to the restrictions placed on everyone while enduring Covid.
The museum is truly fortunate to have had excellent volunteers to open the Museum on Wednesday afternoons during July, August, and September. As we continue to work through restrictions, the Museum Committee along with the Memphis Community Players have decided that we must cancel “The Evening at the Museum – Candlelight Tour of the Past” for 2020.
We would like to share with the community and our patrons that we have scheduled repairs to be completed on the veranda at the main entrance, the north entrance, and the veranda above the main entrance. We are also replacing our inefficient furnaces in the Downing House before cold weather.
We are able to complete the projects with donations from our loyal patrons. The USBank has also graciously allowed us to use the grant that we received for the “Evening at The Museum” event in whatever method most needed so we are putting it toward these maintenance projects.
We are looking forward to serving our community next season and working to meet our m Downing House Museum Complex End of Season News ission: “Working to preserve our history for future generations”.
