Keith C. Chance, 89, of Memphis, Missouri passed away August 20, 2020 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis. The son of John and Nelma Hardman Chance, he was born August 25, 1930 in rural Scotland County.
He grew up on the family farm and attended the Memphis High School.
After graduating he was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded many honors for his heroic efforts, an excellent gunner and achieving the rank as Corporal. As a disabled veteran Keith served in in the Army reserves for a few years before returning home to farm and to start his own trucking business in 1955.
He first married Emma Lou Ludwig and to this union four children were born: Steve, Bob Jim, and Wanetta.
He later married Oleva Kirkpatick on August 25, 1974 and doubled the size of his family inheriting three more children to share his life with, Vicky, Dennis, and Cindy.
In his spare time he enjoyed working with the 4H activities, being with his family, hunting and fishing being his passion, an avid animal lover and being in the great outdoors. He enjoyed the camaraderie of veterans, being a member of the V.F.W. of Memphis.
Keith was an adventurous being too, he tried bullriding, went Elk hunting out in Montana numerous times and helped find people with his amazing tracking ability.
Keith was a kind and would always be good for a joke or a few words of wisdom when you met him out in public.

Sutter & family; Jim & Anna Chance: Justin Chance & family, Coleman & Bailey Chance, Pengwei (Chance) Zeng; Wanetta Chance & family; Vicky Cummiskey: Angie & Jerry Abrams & Family, Amy & Jon Wood & family, Joshua & Cheyenne Cummiskey & family; Dennis & Cindy Patton: Andy & Lisa Patton & family, Ashley & Bill Parks & family; Cindy & Rick Green & family: Brett & Rich Naprava & family, Phillip Green; and daughter-in-law: Barbara Chance & Daniel Chance.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert Chance.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the The Memphis V.F.W. in care of Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, at 11:00 A.M. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis Brother Jack Sumption officiating the service. Interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery with full military graveside rites provided by the Memphis V.F.W. Post # 4958 and two from his unit.
Musicians were Angela Westhoff, organist and accompaniment, Shelle Cooley singing the song Peace In The Valley.
Pallbearers were Bryan Chance, Daniel, chance, Justin Chance, Rick Green, Phillip Green and Coleman Chance
