Although the traditional fair was cancelled due to the pandemic, the Scotland County Fair Board is sending a representative to the Missouri State Fair Queen competition.
In a coronation event held on July 5, Anna Triplett was crowned the 2020 Scotland County Fair Queen. She participated in an interview with judges, performed a speech titled “Women in Agriculture”, and completed the evening gown category. The event’s emcee was the 2019 Scotland County Fair Queen, Sadie Davis.
Anna is the 17 year-old daughter of Curt and the late Vanessa Triplett and she will be a senior at Scotland County R-I. Anna is active in FFA, 4-H, cheerleading, NHS, and campus bowl.
Anna serves in many capacities in her organizations and is a respected leader amongst her peers. She has served in all offices on the 4-H council, secretary and vice president of Memphis FFA, president of NHS, and was captain of SCR-1’s successful campus bowl team. Anna’s most recent high honor was to be named FFA Area 3 President. Her hobbies include reading, sewing, cooking, and playing with her dog, Mazy.
After graduating from Scotland County R-I, Anna plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and pursue degrees in Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine with an emphasis in Reproduction.
Anna will travel to Sedalia to compete for the Missouri State Fair Queen competition to be held August 12-13.
Anna’s coronation was made possible by the Fair Board and Scotland County businesses and individuals that supported the event. Anna received a generous scholarship of $850 and a $350 travel expenses scholarship. She also received a $200 cash award for the Young Women in Agriculture essay contest sponsored by Christy Aylward.
