Summer typically means carnival rides, livestock shows, and tractor pulls capped off by the demolition derby. Unfortunately in 2020, the Scotland County fair Grounds will be silent.
On Jun 2nd, the Scotland County fair board announced the 2020 SC fair has been cancelled. It was originally scheduled for July 5th – 11th, but like many other area fairs, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our first and foremost concern is the health and safety of our exhibitors and families, volunteers and fair-goers and we feel it is the best interest of our community not to place people at risk,” the Fair Board stated in a release.
The Scotland County Fair Queen competition will still be held on Monday, July 6th at 7 p.m. as planned and will be attended by family members only. The fair board plans to live stream the competition with more details to come. The Little Miss and Junior Miss competitions have been cancelled.
“We thank you for your past support and hope you will continue to support the Scotland County Fair,” the board said in the release. “We will be contacting our sponsors in the next couple of weeks.”
