I’m reading, these tense days, what you are likely reading. Report after report of intense social unrest among us. It’s serious, it’s sad, it’s alarming. I read comments of some of my friends and mentors only to find that I don’t agree at all. How did that happen? Maybe they are wrong. Or….
Yes, we live in troubled times. Change is needed in places while steadfastness is valuable in others. Society is left to sort through the maze of strong challenge to our know-how… some-how.
So yes, I reference one more time that “power is perfected in weakness (II Cor. 12:9). I repeat this often for I had to rehearse it myself over and over and over in order to survive ministry. I was never enough for the tasks at hand… not once.
I cheer you forward. Allow your bold opinions to arise for many are likely right on target. But don’t be afraid to listen, to learn, to weigh, to ponder. Reach the conclusion you’ve always had or…maybe be surprised that you’ve altered your mind just a smidge.
Whatever the conclusion, try to reach such with the heart and mind of openness for God is never done revealing fantasticalistic new ideas and concepts. Don’t be afraid to keep your old conclusions. Too, don’t fear ditching them for advanced concepts that had never occurred to you yet.
The most challenging one for me remains in that zone where power is perfected in weakness. I was so hoping that my power would be due to my being strong. But… it never was, never is… and never will be.
Strength can only be our goal if weakness is our first admission.
