Sign-ups and the first practice for the Memphis Swim Team is fast approaching and will be held on Monday, June 8. All youth age 6-18 are eligible to participate.
At 8:30 a,m, on June 8, all participants and at least one parent or guardian must attend the informational meeting and submit their sign-up paperwork. Practice will begin following the informational meeting.
The team practices Monday through Friday from 8:30-10:00 a.m. except on meet days. Swimmers age 10 and under begin at 9:00 a.m.
The Memphis Swim Team is a member of the River Country Swim League comprised of teams from all around the tri-state area. A schedule of meets will be available at the sign-up meeting.
Parents and athletes alike will attest to the positive benefits of participating in organized swimming: great exercise, improvement in stroke technique, every child competes in several events, and, most importantly, lots of fun. Because swimming is a life-time sport, enjoyed by people of all ages, skills learned by young swimmers will be used for the rest of their lives.
Due to the competitive nature of the league, participants should have enough skill and courage to swim the length of the pool without stopping to rest. For more information, contact coaches Trinity Davis at tdavis@nemr.net, 660-216-4617 or Emily Frederick at 660-216-1084.
