| Weather permitting, Friday, May 15, the first phase of a resurfacing project will begin on Missouri Route 15 in Scotland County. The project includes a 1-inch overlay with improved shoulders and rumblestrips from the Iowa State Line to Memphis and also sidewalk improvements at three intersections in Memphis, total length of project being approximately 11 miles. The first phase of the project will involve making improvements to curb ramps at three intersections in Memphis, including Jefferson Street, Madison Street and Monroe Street. “When we resurface a road, we want to make sure sidewalks that are on our right-of-way are in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) before completing the overlay,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers through the work zone while the work is completed. Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work. The second phase of the project, the resurfacing, is planned to take place in upcoming months. W.L. Miller, of Hamilton, Illinois, was awarded the contract for $1,635,535.
