Mystery lovers will enjoy reading Thin Ice, the first book in a brand new series by author Paige Shelton. Main character Beth Rivers is a famous writer who is on the run. She was kidnapped and held hostage in the back of a van for three days by an obsessed fan. She managed to escape by jumping from the back of the moving vehicle. Unfortunately, her stalker got away. Fearing for her life, she leaves town and ends up in a remote village in Alaska. Her plan is to hide out and give the police time to discover the identity of her kidnapper. She just prays that they get him before he finds her and finishes what he started.
The Plantation Trilogy, by Gwen Bristow, is a collection of three historical novels that include Deep Summer, The Handsome Road, and This Side of Glory. The three books are an ongoing multigenerational saga about the lives of three Louisiana families. Deep Summer is set in Louisiana during the tie of the American Revolution. The Handsome Road continues the saga during the Civil War and Reconstruction, and This Side of Glory follows the families in to the early 20th century. The books are rich in historical detail and paint a vivid picture of what life was like on a Louisiana plantation through the years. Deep Summer, the first book in the series, was originally published in 1937. If you like historical fiction you should give this series a try.
