Thelma Gaffney Celebrated her 100th birthday
Thelma Gaffney celebrated her 100th birthday, Thursday, April 9th. The wonderful staff of Scotland County Care Center had a lovely celebration for her. They decorated her room with Happy Birthday signs, banners, and birthday cards. Balloons, and several flower arrangements all sent to wish Thelma a Happy 100th Birthday made the party room complete.
The staff sang Happy Birthday to her while Ann Luther accompanied them from her room across the hall. Thelma’s family joined in the singing. Karen and Russell Grubb, Alan and Phyllis Gaffney, Philip and Sandra Gaffney, and grandson Ryan Gaffney were standing outside her window wishing her Happy Birthday. Sue and Jim Eager joined the group via FaceTime.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Thelma’s sent birthday wishes with cards, letters, pictures and flowers. Those from Iowa came from Kristen Gaffney; Amanda, Andy, Elora, and Katelyn Williams; Becky, James, Molly, and Maggie Rafferty. From Minnesota came greetings from Daniel, Allison, Millie, and Warren Grubb. From the east coast birthday wishes continued from Leslie Eager in North Carolina, and Tim, Julie, Claire, and Sammy Eager in New York. And more wishes came from Brett, Erin, and little ClaraMae Gaffney in Tennessee.
Thelma also received greetings from her brother, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law in addition to nieces, nephews, and of course, Thelma’s many friends.
Thelma’s festivities concluded with a 100th Birthday cake that was served to all the residents and staff of the Care Center and Residential Center.
Due to social distancing, everyone enjoyed their cake in their rooms, and the picture above was taken on Thelma’s 99th birthday.
