Thomas Shannan of Nashville, Tennessee, formerly of Kahoka, was recently accepted into Cornell University Law School where he will matriculate in the fall as a member of the Class of 2021.
Shannan graduated from Clark County High School in 2013 and from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Psychology and English Literature.
While at Vanderbilt, Shannan was Vice President of the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, an opinion columnist for the campus’s student newspaper The Vanderbilt Hustler, and a content contributor for Vanderbilt’s satirical newspaper The Slant. In 2016, Shannan interned with The Law Firm of Dempsey & Dempsey in Hannibal, Missouri.
Cornell University Law School is an Ivy League law school located in Ithaca, New York. Earlier this year, U.S. News and World Report ranked it the 13th best law school in the nation.
Upon graduating from law school, Shannan wishes to work in New York City as a civil litigation or civil rights attorney.
Shannan is the son of Dawn and Ronnie Gutting and the grandson of Tom Shannan and Betty Sawyer.
