Scotland County celebrated Courtwarming on Friday night and the Lady Tigers commemorated the special event with a sharp shooting demonstration as the missed shots were few and far between.
Abi Feeney fueled the hot start as she poured in 14 first-quarter points without missing a shot. The junior guard sank a short jumper before canning a three pointer from the corner. She followed that up with a steal and a fast break bucket that turned into a three-point play. Feeney was a perfect 5-5 at the free throw line during the stretch.
Calesse Bair put the explanation mark on the huge first period nailing a deep three-pointer to beat the buzzer and put the home squad on top 22-8.
SCR-I opened the third period with a 10-0 run. Bair converted three-point play before Maddie Brassfield scored in the paint. Feeney sank a jumper before Brassfield connected from behind the arc to make the score 32-8. Brassfield hit another three-pointer and Sadie Davis also connected from long range before Kassie Bulen finished off a near perfect first half with a buzzer beater in the paint to make the score 47-14.
Brassfield continued her hot shooting, sinking her third three-pointer of the night to start the third period. Ashleigh Creek converted a three-point play and Bair did the same as SCR-I outscore Milan 14-1 in the third period to push the margin to 61-15.
With a running clock, senior Avery Whitaker capped off the night with a pair of field goals as SCR-I posted the 66-21 win.
Scotland County improved to 15-1 on the year and 5-1 in the Tri-Rivers Conference. Feeney led the way with 18 points, Brassfield finished with 15 points while Creek had 11 and Bair pitched in with 10.
