The Sew & Go Quilt  Guild met  on November 10th  and December 8th at the Downing Christian Church in Downing.

Refreshments in November were served by Michele Drummond, and Tina Newcomb with Debbie Payne’s help. December refreshments were provided by all  the ladies of the guild. Both months had awesome treats.

Liz Reel called the November meeting to order in Virginia Hoyal’s absence. Virginia presided over the December meeting.

The raffle bag winners were Linda Marlowe and Debbie Payne

Liz Reel shared about a camp retreat at Camp Jota north of Clarence. The Quilted Windmill in Pella, IA has a new online site. Randi York shared about a lecture Kaffe Fasset. Sarah Myers shared about a thread painting class at Appletree Quilt store in Columbia.

Liz Reel and Betty Duncan enjoyed a quilt retreat at Lake Panorama near Des Moines, IA. Wild Flower Quilting will be doing a sew-in each Saturday in December from 10 to 12. Susan Chidester’s shop is offering  50% off Christmas fabric. Liz Reel will be presenting a program at the Schuyler County Rotary Club meeting.

Jeannie Childress gave treasurer’s report for the November and December meetings.

Virginia Mullinix reported the Relay for Life sashes were completed for Schuyler and Scotland county cancer survivors. The Linus Sew will be held In February. The Guild will be planning in the spring  a FAT (Fabric Acquisition Trip).

At the November meeting, Karen Biggs gave a program on the importance of labeling quilts and Guild members displayed their embellished Christmas projects. Those showing were Jan Morrow, Virginia Hoyal, Susan Chidester, Michelle Drummond, Betty Duncan, Barbara Blessing, Treva Wittstock, Liz Reel, and Debbie Payne.

Betty Duncan passed along the Peace Cottage  part one directions… Part Two to come in February.

A charity quilt was donated for the Frederick Benefit.

Tina Newcomb also presented a program when the ladies start quilts, what are the favorite fabrics  and least favorite fabrics  and several other questions.  All that participated had their names put in a hat and the winner of that drawing was Randi York.

Ladies were reminded about bringing their 12 1/2 inch snowman blocks for January.

During Show and Tell Debbie Payne showed a quilt that was finished by the Thursday night group  The blocks were paper pieced by Hope Curry and when finished  will be donated to the Scotland County Cancer Fund.

Others displaying were Sarah Myers, Tina Newcomb Liz Reel,  Ellen Farnsworth, Renee Blaine, Susan Chidester,  Barbara Blessing, Rosalie Kinney, Sherri Davis, Zelda Keith, and Betty Duncan.

The ladies at the December meeting, instead of bringing Grab Bag gifts for one another, brought socks, gloves, scarves, hats and underwear to be divided between  Scotland County and Schuyler County schools.

Others attending were Mary Creek, Linda Marlowe, Lerea Bloomfield, and Joyce McGoldrick.
