The Scotland County R-I Board of Education met in special session on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 5:25 p.m. President Sam Berkowitz called the meeting to order with six members present. Cole Tippett arrived from work at 6:10 p.m.
The board discussed a bond issue to address future projects.
Mr. Berkowitz moved to approve Proposition 2 as presented for the April 5th, 2016 election. Mr. Koontz seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously 7-0.
PROPOSITION 2 reads as follows:
Shall the Board of Education of the Scotland County R-I School District, Missouri borrow money in the amount of Four Million Dollars ($4,000,000) for the purpose of constructing and improving the learning and teaching environment by:
Accommodating the expansion of early childhood education with four classrooms on campus.
Increasing instructional support services such as therapy, life skills and special education on campus.
Enhancing square footage for expanding music and world language offerings.
Accommodating a weight room, replacing the football locker room and increasing storage under one roof.
Replacing the baseball, football and softball field lights and completing track facility improvements.
Upgrading heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and controls at the elementary school.
Installing security systems for new construction and high school building.
to the extent funds are available, complete other remodeling and repair improvements to existing facilities of the District; and issue bonds for the payment thereof resulting in an estimated increase to the debt service property tax levy of $0.4000 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation?
If this proposition is approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the District is estimated to increase from $0.0000 to $0.4000 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.
