Richard Crawford died August 28, 2017.  He was the oldest son of Gerald (Bud) and Doris (Payne) Crawford.  His date of birth was March 30, 1936, near Boynton, Missouri.

Richard and Reva Britton were married in 1955 and moved to Kirksville, Missouri. Richard graduated from Kirksville High School in 1956. He was baptized into the Christian Faith at the age of 22 by Lawrence Bridgewater in August of 1958. Twelve years later Richard became a student at the Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, MO.  A few years later he was asked to become the pastor of the Boynton Baptist Church from the spring of 1974 to October of 1981.

Mr. Crawford was also employed for 18 years at the International Shoe Factory in Kirksville, which later became the Florsheim Shoe Factory.  In 1977, he became employed by the City of La Plata, Missouri. Richard was asked to become the supervisor of the La Plata Electric Department from September 1985 to March 1999.

Those surviving Richard Crawford’s death are his wife Reva of their home in La Plata and one son, Gaylord Britton Crawford of the Kirksville area. Also surviving are one brother, Lanny Crawford and wife Karen Elaine; two sisters, Janet Grgurich and Karen Sue Gooch, all from the Milan area, and brother-in-law Keith Lane Britton and wife Irma of North Kansas City, Missouri.

Nieces and nephews surviving are Rick Roger Ullerich, Virginia Therese Britton, Nathan Carlos Britton, Richard Wayne Gooch, Steven Gooch, Jewel Pauline Britton, Roy Lee Peters and wife Missy; Shannon Yardley and wife Angie, Kimberly Tennison and husband Randy, Ronda Eddy, Kristy Cullum, Robin Brannen and husband Bennie and Richard David Crawford.

Loved ones preceding Mr. Crawford’s death are his parents Gerald (Bud) in 1990 and Doris Crawford in 1971; his wife’s parents Carolos and Blanche Britton in 1965 and 1966; the oldest son of Richard and Reva, Gerald Lane Crawford in August of 2008; and one brother-in-law, Harold Wayne Gooch in May of 2014. Four nephews also preceded him in death,  Jeral James Britton in 1995; George Zirdt in 1999; Mike Gooch in 2003 and Gale Paul Ullerich in August of 2011.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Crawford’s great nephews, Dustin Ullerich, Russell Ullerich, Von Edwards, Ken Allen, Justin Salisbury, Tristan Cullum, Charles Lane Tennison, Jeryk Eddy and Tucker Turner.
