Raymond (Ray) Curtis Ward, 66, of Rutledge Missouri passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019, at his home south of Rutledge. He was born July 22, 1952, in Bloomfield, Iowa, son of Lawrence and Bonnie (Tinkle) Ward. He attended school in Memphis at Scotland County R-1
He was married to Kathy Shipley and to that union 2 daughters were born, Heather and Kristi. On November 28, 1992, he married Connie Ward in Memphis, MO.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, family reunions, and white elephant auctions. He had a love of gardening and feeding the birds. He enjoyed being with his daughters and grandchildren, and his best fur baby, Tippy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Ward, daughter, Heather Ward, granddaughter, Tierra Stansberry, father-in-law, Lloyd Ward, and a brother David Ward.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Ward, of Rutledge, MO, a daughter, Kristi (Jamie) DeWees, of Ottumwa, IA, his mother, Bonnie Ward, of Memphis, MO, and five granddaughters, Natasha (Devin) Eddleman, Tayler (Brad) Stines, Kailee Dale Davis, Josalyn Stansberry, and Ellee DeWees, and one grandson Landon Raymond-Curtis Parker, 4 great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson, Four brothers Jim (Laurie) Ward, Chuck Ward, Randy (Debbie) Ward, of Memphis, MO, Raun (Pam) Ward of Evanston, WY and a sister-in-law Kathi Ward of Hughson, CA, One Aunt: Rosy (Virgil) Roorda of Barnes City, IA; mother-in-law, Marjorie Ward, of Rutledge, MO, and one brother-in-law: Bob (Merry) Ward of Edina, MO; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, January 27, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Leon Buford officiating. Interment followed in the Pauline Cemetery at Rutledge, Missouri. At the conclusion of the committal service, there was a meal provided by the Rutledge Eastern Star Chapter #343 and the ladies of the community that was enjoyed by all at the Rutledge Community Center at Rutledge, Missouri.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Rutledge Fire Department or the Rutledge Community Center Kitchen Fund and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.
Pallbearers were Glen Cowell, Bob Huffman, Brad Stines, Randy Garnett, Rusty Tuttle, Devin Eddleman, Bill Cottrell, and Rusty Messengale. Honorary pallbearers were Nick Stines, Landon Parker, Kevin Woods, Jamie DeWees, Bob Garrett, Dan Kavanagh, and Leon Shaw.
