Patricia Joan (Olson) “Pat” West, 81, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Memphis, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Grand Strand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Myrtle Beach.

She was born the daughter of Carl Rex and Bessy Opal (Couch) Olson on August 28, 1935 in Wyaconda.

Pat married Orva West on August 26, 1983 in Memphis.   He preceded her in death on July 21, 2012.

She enjoyed crafts, needlework, crocheting, sewing, cooking and baking.  Pat especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and preparing large family dinners.

Pat worked for Dr. Brackett as his office manager for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Mary Frances Olson; brother, Carl Kenneth Olson; a niece and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her son, Douglas (Tracy) Jones of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Debra (Bill) Shipley of Birmingham, IA; stepchildren: Stan West of Lemmon, SD, Scott West of Waterloo, IA, and Kathy (John) Hollingshead of Wyoming, IA; grandchildren: Chris Babbitt of Washington; Brandon (Lydia) Jones of Hendersonville, NC, Amber (Scott) Ewell of Austin, TX, Brittany (Charles) Nelson of Lagrange, GA, Jamie Barker (Joe Quick) of Des Moines, IA, Connor Hollingshead of the Air Force, Josh (Tausha) Hollingshead of Utah, Nick Hollingshead of Wyoming, IA, Brad (Amy) Hollingshead of Cedar Rapids, IA; 11 great-grandchildren; three nieces; sisters-in-law: Rita Olson and Sue Ruley; a special grandson, Zac Behrens of Memphis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 21 at the Memphis United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery.

Visitation is from 12-8 p.m., Thursday, April 20, at the Gerth Funeral Home with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
