A first half lead slipped away Tuesday night in Shelbyville, and Scotland County was unable to overcome a devastating third period, falling to North Shelby 59-58 in Tri-Rivers Conference action.
The Tigers took a 16-15 lead in the first period. Will McRobert came off the bench to hit a pair of field goals to spark the first quarter run.
Jacob Blessing poured in 10 points in the second period, including three, three-pointers. Lucas Howard added a pair of field goals that helped the Tigers take a 36-30 lead at halftime.
North Shelby clamped down on defense in the third quarter, holding the Tigers to just eight points. The Raiders poured in 17 points to pull ahead 47-44.
Brice Cowell kept SCR-I close with 10 fourth quarter points, but the rest of the team managed just four points on field goals by Howard and McRobert to allow North Shelby to hold on for the 59-58 victory.
The Tigers fell to 10-13 on the season and 4-5 in the TRC. Cowell led all scorers with 19 points. Blessing added 15 points and McRobert and Howard each finished with 10 points.
Lucas Daniel led North Shelby in scoring with 15 points and Michael Orr added 10 points.
